Man rapes relative as part of family tradition

A Harare man raped his 21 year old relative saying he was following instructions from her late mother.
Jepson Mubvereki is said to have told his female relative that it was part of their culture called "kupingudza'.
The court heard that in May this year, he called the 21 year old and told her that mother tasked him to have sexual relationship with her before she died.
In June, Mubvereki called his victim to his office and forcibly raped her.
The court also heard that between June and this month he has sexual encounters with the woman at least twice a week.
The matter only came to light after the victim's sister scrolled her cell phone and came across some messages between her and Mubvereki.
She informed her friend at school about the messages.
A police report was made leading ton Mubvereki's arrest
He is due in court October 16.
