The government has released $200 000 for cloud seeding in the 2015-16 rain season.

Farmers have also been called upon to utilise existing dams for irrigation purposes as rainfall patterns have become erratic.

This follows forecasts by the SADC Climate Services Centre and local Meteorological Services Department of another season characterised by normal to below normal rains.

With rainfall patterns becoming unpredictable due to climate change, farmers can still utilise the 10 000 existing dams for irrigation, noted Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, who is the Minister of Environment, Water and Climate.

According to the Meteorological Services Department outlook, between October and December, the whole country should have normal to below normal rains.

For the second half of the season spanning January to March 2016, the southern parts should have a normal to below normal rainfall while northern Zimbabwe should have normal to above normal rains.
