A Zimbabwean national has been arrested for allegedly cheating an Indian person to the tune of over Rs 91 thousand through fake online lottery, Indian police said Thursday.

Johnson Makyambo sent an SMS to one Satish Kumar, a resident of Peenya, that he had won an e-lottery of Rs 5.6 crore and to avail the prize money, he had to get in touch with him through email and deposit Rs 5 lakh for tax clearance.

Taken in by the SMS, Satish deposited Rs 91,125 in the bank mentioned by Makyambo but when he did not receive the prize money, he informed police who arrested the Zimbabwean yesterday.
