Black Opal face of Zimbabwe, second princess Mercy Kamanura (24) who is accused of stealing a jumpsuit from Edgars shop has suggested that there was a possibility that a attendant conspired with her to steal the said jumpsuit.
The jumpsuit is worth $40
Speaking through her lawyer, Lovemore Matapura , Mercy said "How is it possible for someone to put a jumpsuit which is on a hanger in a medium sized handbag? It only makes sense to say that the jumpsuit was already in the changing room and Kamanura put it in her handbag in order to get away with it," said the lawyer.
Matapura was cross examining Hildah Bwenje.
Matapura went on to say Kamanura was shocked to see the jumpsuit in her handbag as she had no idea how it had ended up there and suspected foul play.
Bwenje, however, told the court that she assisted Kamanura when she was fitting the jumpsuits and had no idea how she ended up having a jumpsuit in her bag.
"I was surprised to see Kamanura coming back with the security guard saying that she had stolen a jumpsuit since she had handed back the ones I had given her for fitting," she said.
Kamanura is facing allegations of theft after she was found in possession of an unpaid for jumpsuit at an Edgars store in the city.
The trial will continue on Friday.
Kamanura won the Black Opal Face of Zimbabwe title in July this year and received $2,000 and three months' supply of Black Opal skincare and cosmetic products.
