51 people arrested at Caledonia Farm

51 people have been arrested at Caledonia Farm in Harare as police moved in to execute a High Court eviction order.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba told the ZBC News that police arrested 51 people this Tuesday morning at Caledonia Farm.
The arrested were charged with contempt of arrest and were taken to Mabvuku police station.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Charamba also said police were deployed in the area to execute a court order according to the law which makes it their responsibility.
Meanwhile, the residents who are facing eviction say they want dialogue on how they can pay compensation to the prejudiced owners of the farm.
They say they are not resisting eviction but have nowhere to go.
The eviction order issued by the High Court saw the first execution on September the 12th 2015.
The order to execute thousands housed as Caledonia was effected following an application granted by the High Court to Paddy Zhanda.
However, most of the affected families say they were issued with offer letters for land through the responsible line ministry and forked out money since 2013 for developing the stands only to wake up to the horror of bulldozers razing their homes on September 12 2015.
