Some Harare residents have demanded clarity on the major reasons why the Harare City Council wanted to introduce the pre-paid water meters which they think have adverse effects on their livelihoods.

The demanded were reportedly made by residents during the on going council budget consultative meetings.·

Harare Residents Trust revealed that the residents in ward 15 raised issues of prepaid water meters, they wanted to know why council was introducing meters that need electricity to run.

"Does this mean with the current massive power outages in Zimbabwe when there is no ZESA there will be no water. The Government is planning on banning geyser in order to save an estimated 300MW of electricity yet Council is introducing gadgets that will lead to every household having an increased power consumption," said the Trust.
