The Zimbabwe national Roads Authority Administration will by the end of the year disburse $48 million to authorities countrywide for road maintenance.

Zinara CE Moses Juma says they are targeting $183 million from toll fees which is $50 million more than what was realised last year.

Eng Juma said RDCs would get $20 million urban councils $10 million and DDF and the Department of Roads $6 million and $12 million respectively.

Meanwhile, government is expected to announce the winning bidder for the dualisation of Beitbridge -Harare and Harare-Chirundu highways in the next two weeks after which work on the massive projects will start.

The $2 billion project is in line with the 10 point plan enunciated by President Mugabe in his State of the Nation Address in August.

Several other road projects are on the cards, including the dualisation of the Harare-Nyamapanda highway and Beitbridge-Bulawayo and Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highways.

Government described the two roads as major gateways connecting Zimbabwe and the rest of Africa.
