A 21-year-old Harare Polytechnic college model who allegedly cat-walked without her panties yesterday appeared in court facing public indecency charges.
Appearing before Harare magistrate Ms Blessing Murwisi, Panashe Zhaware denied the allegations. Ms Murwisi remanded her to October 23 on $100 bail.
As part of her bail conditions, Zhaware was ordered not to interfere with State witnesses and to reside at the address she gave to the police. Zhaware is represented by Msindo Hungwe of Kadzere and Hungwe law firm. The prosecutor Ms Patience Chimusaru alleged that on July 17 this year, Zhaware participated in a modelling contest held at Harare Poly.
The court heard that Zhaware intentionally wore her evening gown without her undergarments. It is alleged that she went on to cat walk on the ramp without her pant and as she was walking, she wilfully exposed her genitals to the audience. It is the State's case that the incident was captured on camera.
The police were prompted to investigate the matter when Zhaware's 'indecent pictures' were published in the H-Metro last week. Her pictures also went viral on social media. Following investigations, Zhaware was subsequently arrested.
