Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education Jonathan Moyo has claimed that exactly 25 000 Zanu PF supporters attended First Lady Grace Mugabe rally at Chimhanda Secondary School in Rushinga, Mashonaland Central Province, yesterday.
Moyo said the figures was arrived at after a meticulous 'head count'.
He wrote on his official twitter account "Sights from today's star rally addressed by Dr Grace Mugabe & attended by 15,000 Zanu PF supporters in Rushinga!"
He later changed to "A head count at the Star Rally addressed by Dr Grace Mugabe in Rushinga today puts the attendance at 25,000!".
The disparity in figures forced his followers to question the figure.
However, Moyo said "My first estimate was 15, 000 & then a result of a head count showed 25,000 & I shared that but 3,000 is dead wrong!
"Yes I estimated the crowd to be 15,000 & then I was given a head count of 25,000!".
During a rally at White City Stadium , in 2000, Moyo claimed that more than 70 000 thronged the venue which has a mere 10 000 carrying capacity.
