Residents complain over Airport and Dieppe roads diversion
17 Oct 2015 at 08:46hrs | Views
Residents in Arcadia and Braeside have complained that all traffic that normally uses Airport Road and Dieppe road, is being diverted to pass through Arcadia and Braeside.
"As a result heavy duty trucks and buses are damaging roads," Harare Residents Trust said.
"There was an incident where a heavy duty 34 tonne truck got bogged down in a trench and broke the main sewer pipe in Woodstock Ave, Arcadia. The damaged sewer pipe left the Anglican Church and many houses in the area without use of toilet facilities for some time."
The trust said a temporary repair was done on the basis that they would come back and repair but nothing has been done to address this issue.
"The HRT calls the city council to respond to the plight of these residents. Residents have now written a petition to council to ask them to put up road signs prohibiting heavy vehicles from entering in residential areas, they have also demanded that ZINARA together with the City Council repair their damaged roads," said the trust.
