The trial of a Seke 5 High School teacher, accused of attacking her husband on his genitals following a domestic dispute, failed to take off yesterday after it was reported that the victim was still recuperating in hospital.

Tawanda Tinazvo (36) of Unit O, Chitungwiza, was still admitted at Chitungwiza Central Hospital.

Tinazvo is a teacher at Seke 4 High School.

His wife, Abigail Antonio (31) was not asked to plead to domestic violence charges when she appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo.

Antonio who is on $100 bail, was remanded to October 28 for trial if Tinazvo recovers and his medical report compiled.

Prosecuting, Mr Tendai Mukariri, told the court that on the day in question Tinazvo came back home from conducting extra lessons at around 10pm. He discovered that his wife had not left any food for him and was already in bed.

Tinazvo asked Antonio why she had developed a habit of not cooking for him and she allegedly confronted him accusing his mother of being evil and that she had been influencing him to do "bad things".

However, Tinazvo professed ignorance of the matter and joined Antonio in bed.

It is alleged that she got up and told Tinazvo that she was going to teach him a lesson.

She allegedly punched him on the head and got hold of his private parts and pulled them hard.

He managed to free himself and ran for dear life, with Antonio in hot pursuit.

She caught up with him at the gate where she allegedly reached for Tinazvo's privates again and pulled them severely until he started bleeding.
