President Robert Mugabe has castigated officials in both the private and public sector for lack of honesty and for constantly scheming how to defraud or steal property.

Addressing hundreds of people gathered at the Nhetekwa homestead in Mhondoro today, President Mugabe said it so disheartening to see "people whom you give trust to manage your affairs engage in rampant corruption."

He cited the case of Gushungo Dairy where people have been stealing and underpricing some of the products being sold on the market.

He cited also a case at Mwenezi at the Development Trust of Zimbabwe where people were entrusted with more than 2 000 cattle at the ranch and have been using excuses of drought in order to steal the cattle.

Gogo Petronela nNetekwa was celebrating her 80th birthday coinciding with the 12th anniversary of the death of her husband Samuel Paul Nhetekwa who died in 2003.
