Air traffic controllers say lack of modern equipment, staffing challenges and lack of training are some of the challenges they are grappling with and Zimbabwe may not be able to monitor her air space in the near future.
The concerns come as Zimbabwe joins the rest of the world in commemorating the International Day of Air Traffic Controllers.
The Minister of Policy Coordination and Promotion of Socio-Economic Ventures in the President's Office, Simon Khaya Moyo, who is the Air Traffic Controllers Association of Zimbabwe patron, lauded the air traffic controllers for soldiering on in challenging times.
The aviation industry is at the core of the revitalisation of the tourism sector, noted Moyo.
The commemorations are being held under the theme, "Health and Wellness of the Controller."
