Renewal Democrats of Zimbabwe (RDZ) is open to form a coalition of political parties to face President Robert Mugabe in the 2018 harmonized elections, but will not join hands with "murderers", an official has said.
RDZ spokesperson Pishayi Muchauraya told journalists in Harare yesterday that the new opposition party would screen parties it was prepared to work with.
The party will hold its congress on Friday and Saturday to elect a substantive leadership. Muchauraya added that RDZ would not want to be associated with "unclean" politicians.
Elton Mangoma, the interim leader, is expected to be confirmed as the party president at the forthcoming congress.
Mangoma recently broke ranks with Progressive Democratic Party leader Tendai Biti after they walked out on MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai last year, describing the veteran trade unionist as an obstacle to democracy.
