Mayor, councillors paid allowances for attending Grace Mugabe rally

Mutare deputy mayor Collins Mukwada and two other councillors all Zanu-PF allegedly forced the cash strapped local authority to pay them allowances for attending First Lady Grace Mugabe's recent rally in Chimanimani.

An official in city treasurer's department yesterday confirmed that council paid Mukwada and councillors Kenneth Kagoro and Tawireyi Mabika $50 each.

Contacted for comment Mabika professed ignorance over the issue and Kagoro refused to comment. Mukwada admitted that they received the money but said there was nothing amiss with the payment.
