"MY husband consulted traditional healers to turn my son against me," claims a Mutare woman who is nursing wounds of rejection.
Tsitsi Nyamavhuvhu has been dragged before the courts by her ex-husband who is praying for maintenance discharge.
Morgan Nemaramba, who now has custody of their 15-year-old son, approached the courts praying that the $200 he was paying her ex-wife for the upkeep of their child be scrapped.
He told the court there was no reason to continue paying the $200 since he is now personally taking care of the child.
Nemaramba said Nyamavhuvhu left him for another man whom she viewed as financially stable.
"I am now the one staying with our son, so I have no reason to continue paying the maintenance which is no longer benefiting him. She left me for another man and I cannot take care of another man's woman," said Nemaramba. In response, Nyamavhuvhu disputed the application, saying the maintenance order covered both her son and herself. She accused Nemaramba of leaving their matrimonial home for another wife and consulting traditional healers to turn their son against her.
"The maintenance that he was paying covered me and my son. Even though he is now staying with him, where does she expect me to get money for my medications and food? I am asthmatic, Your Worship.
"He left me for another woman when I lost my job at Plan International. I stayed with him for 15 years and we registered all our cars in his name. I even covered him on my medical aid. All he could do at the end was taking away my four cars and consulting traditional healers to turn my own son against me.
She told Mrs Chigodora that she does not have a decent job to earn her enough money at the moment. However, Nemaramba told the court that their son saw Nyamavhuvhu with another man and decided to leave her place because of her infidelity.
"My son's decision to stay with me came after he figured out that her mother was having an affair with another man. He couldn't stand and watch his mother doing this kind of thing in front of him. How can I use juju on my own child?" he asked.
In her ruling, Mrs Chigodora suspended maintenance for their son and ordered Nemaramba to pay $70 for Nyamavhuvhu's upkeep with effect from October 31 this year until October 31 2016.
