A Harare businesswoman is accused of trying to run over an ex-employee in a salary dispute over the weekend, HMetro reported

Irene Marumahoko allegedly left her ex-employee, Wendy Saunyama, with an injured hip on Saturday afternoon. The businesswoman is married to Hurungwe senator Reuben Marumahoko.

She runs Budget Supermarket and Tendai Bottle Store in Greendale where the incident took place.

Irene was evasive and hostile when contacted for comment. "I got your contact details and I will deal with you if that story is published. "What is so special about Wendy, I established this business in 1983 and no one has ever taken me to the Press.

"In fact she was the one standing in front of my car, what did you want me to do," fumed Irene. She was suggesting that this incident was not INTENTIONAL but Wendy 'pushed her to the edges' by standing in front of her car. But Wendy insisted that Irene deliberately tried to run over her in a salary dispute. "She wanted to run me over with her car and I sustained an injury on my hip when the car grazed me.

"I wanted to enquire about my outstanding wages and she became livid. "I have been working for her for two years and her methods of paying salaries are so erratic," said Wendy. "When I joined her company, former workers advised me that she is a problem when it comes to paying workers but I just initially brushed it off.

"But now after working from 8am to 11pm daily, I am tired of being treated like trash," she added. According to eyewitnesses, Wendy emerged from the incident and proceeded to the supermarket where she wanted to confiscate packets of mealie meal equivalent to the money she was owed before the intervention of the shop's manager.

"Wendy failed to get out with the mealie meal because the Budget Super market manager Tariro Marumahoko intervened," said the eyewitness. H-Metro hooked up with Tariro and she CONFIRMED that Wendy attempted to seize goods but they did not lodge a report with the police.

"We did not file a police report because we really owe her money. "About the incident of the car with my mother (Irene), I don't know because I wasn't here.  "The issue has been solved we are going to pay Wendy her money later," said Tariro.
