A sexually starved Mvuma woman who is in a polygamous marriage went berserk and assaulted her 69-year-old senior accusing her of monopolising their 75-year-old husband, a court heard.
Annah Hlabangoma, 29, of Rosedale farm in Mvuma admitted bashing Eva Mapupu in frustration before provincial magistrate Musaiwona Shotgame.
She was convicted of one count of domestic violence. In passing sentence, Shotgame said Hlabangoma had acted disrespectfully by assaulting her senior who is old enough to be her grandmother.
"Since both of you are married to the same man you should've been respectful considering that you're younger than her. What's however in your favour is that you pleaded guilty and as such you didn't waste the court's time," said the magistrate.
He then sentenced her to 12 months imprisonment of which four months were suspended on condition of good behaviour. The remaining eight months were suspended on condition Hlabangoma performs 240 hours of community service at Chishuku Primary School in Mvuma.
Prosecuting Bernard Nyoni told the court that the women fought on October 15 this year at around 4PM.
He said Hlabangoma confronted Mapupu over her lack of conjugal rights.
He said Shabby Zinyi, the husband, tried to stop the two from fighting to no avail. Mapupu reported the matter to the police leading to Hlabangoma's arrest.
