Harare City Council has set aside $20 million dollars for the purchase of the road maintenance equipment

This was revealed by the Harare Residents Trust which said according to the Council 57% non revenue water that is not accounted for, to address this US $24 million was allocated to water distribution network including prepaid water meters.

"City of Harare still engaging ZINARA and they hope they will soon find common ground. Meanwhile the City has set aside US$20 million for purchase of an array of road maintenance equipment," said HRT.

"Refuse collection fleet: The City will progressively replace the refuse collection fleet which it says is now costly to repair and maintain. The replacement programme will be done over a period of four years at the rate of 10 compactors a year starting in 2016 to 2019. Also the city wants to establish a proper landfill site and for both projects it has set aside US$5.5 million"

The trust said health care delivery system: Council is setting aside US$470 000 for staff training in customer care.

"For expansion of the following poly clinics Mabvuku, Highlands, Waterfalls and Kuwadzana an allocation of US$400 000 was proposed," said HRT.

"Home industry construction: A total of US$6 million was allocated towards home industries over a period of two years. District offices: For construction, renovation of district offices and sub-offices a total of US$900 000 was allocated."

The trust said vending sites and Commuter holding bays: Council just outlined commitment to carry out the projects but no monetary value was put on these project.
