A social and political commentator Revesayi Mutede has said first lady Grace Mugabe does not love her husband President Robert Mugabe because if she loved him she would assist in having him resting by retiring from the top job.

"It was in 2003, on the occasion of his birthday when Robert Mugabe was asked during a TV interview with Supa Mandiwanzira, where he saw himself in 5 years time.

"I would have retired of course. Who needs forever" he quickly responded," said Mutede.

"And here we are, 12 years later, and forever is all he needs. He cannot even climb one single stair without several minders ready to fly like goal keepers, in case he involuntarily makes for the ground, a goal to cheer for by his teeming enemies."

Mutede said Mugabe thought by now he would be spending the rest of his sunset days, sipping English tea at his blue roof mansion, finishing his memoirs.

"But the Bible says "There is no rest for the wicked". So as the rest of decent minded and cultured Zimbabweans pity the old man,and wonder why they won't rest him, his wife and party urge him on. Don't stop they say. Keep going up and down stairs. Keep on until you drop dead," he said.

"And drop dead he is about to. He might just fall, never to rise up again as things look. We will cross that bridge when we get to it, you will hear the revolutionists shout."

He said Mugabe is breaking down, but they push and push to restart him.

"Mugabe's wheels are punctured and his engine makes rattling sounds and puffs smoke into the air like its on fire," Mutede said. "He is overheated and needs to be taken off the road and parked permanently."

He said surely he has seen better days.

"Gone are the days when he commanded pure respect from friends and foes alike. Today, he has become a figure more to be pitted than feared. Gone is the bravado and poetic language. He is almost incapacitated. He has lost his mind. The examples of this are well documented and cant be challenged," he said.

"He can stand for two hours", you will hear the wife boast. She wants him to keep standing for hours on end. Keep that power because it is that power that keeps all that money coming in."

Mutede said God rested Sally Mugabe. She must be saying" Yas, that's what you get for cheating on me with a low life, worthless woman".

"And maybe sometimes her heart hurts for her still living husband, who has been denied rest by his second wife and the equally uncaring Zanu PF," he said.

"If Sally was here ,she would put her foot down. She would have made him sign those retirement papers ,willingly or unwillingly. But the devil gave Mugabe a companion. She lies and had Amai Mujuru purged and expelled from ZANU PF for no apparent reason. A she devil, with a heart of ice"

Mutede said women are known to be compassionate and sympathetic than men. "Unfortunately, Grace is not, otherwise she could have put fame and wealthy behind, think about ubuntu, the spirit of humanity. Her husband is old and tired, she could have allowed him to retire," he said.

"Grace could have let loose his grip on power and retire him. She has the power. But she does not love him, let's not pretend she does. She has never loved him and that is Gods honest truth. We all know what love is, and what is happening to Mugabe ,sure isn't."

Mutede said Mugabe thought that if he gave her the world and all the wealth in it,she might love him.

"He still thinks if he let's her be president, she might finally love him. Love can never be bought at the market place. If you can buy love ,then you can buy life.If you can buy love ,then you can buy God,for God is love," he said.

"He still has not learnt. There is nothing in this world that he can give her ,and she would love him. You can buy elections. You can buy the chief justice. You can buy the service chiefs. You can even rent a crowd and buy votes. But you can never ever buy love. You go down in the grave, Robert, without love."
