Donkey thief gets 2 years in jail

A MAN from Gokwe who stole five neighbours' donkeys has been slapped with an effective 2 years in jail and ordered to restitute one of the villagers his donkey which was not recovered.
Sifelani Sibanda (27) recently stole one donkey belonging to Kudakwashe Mapararami, two donkeys of Emmanuel Karekuvaga and two donkeys of Kumbirai Zenga.
The villagers had left their animals in the bush for grazing before Sibanda stole them four donkeys were recovered and they each worth $70. Only one belonging to Mapararami was not recovered.
He pleaded guilty top the charges when he appeared before Gokwe resident magistrate Shepherd Mjanja and was convicted and sentenced to 3 years in jail. Six months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
Other two months were suspended on condition he restituted one of the complainants $70 of the donkey that was not recovered.
