War veterans have called on Finance Minister, Mr. Tendai Biti to resign saying he has failed the nation by failing to provide adequate funding for the country's agricultural sector.
War veterans Association Harare Province Chairman, Charles Mpofu told reporters that Mr. Biti has failed the nation and must resign.
He expressed concern that as the nation readies for the 2011 to 2012 farming season, the Finance Minister has not prioritised agriculture in a country where the sector is the biggest driver of the economy.
Due to underfunding, the Grain Marketing board has failed to purchase maize from farmers for the past two seasons a situation that threatens to affect the country's food security.
The MDC-T has resisted the Land Reform Programme which has seen more than 300 000 indigenous farmers benefitting.
With food production dependant on these farmers, observers say there is need for the finance ministry to understand the nation's agriculture production vision.
