Harare Residents Trust has blasted Harare City council over increased 2016 budget.
In Its Facebook post the trust said the local authority was becoming impossible by unilaterally increasing the budget at a time when it also imposed the installation of pre-paid water meters which will burden the rates payers to a large extent.
"The City of Harare Budget for 2016 doesn't show that the council learnt from this year's budget performance. Their justification for raising the council budget is against the background that the introduction of prepaid water meters will bring more revenue," said the trust.
"This is a poor and ill informed forecast, what will happen when residents decide to dig wells or have boreholes drilled and not use council prepaid water. This will translate into less revenue for the council."
