JAPAN has edged to support Zimbabwe's agricultural sector by resuscitating dysfunctional irrigation projects.
Outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Koichi Morita told Acting President John Landa Nkomo the Asian country will commit itself to providing Zimbabwe with technical expertise and also resuscitating irrigation programs. He was paying courtesy call to the acting president.
Morita who is leaving the country next month said Japan had put in place a number of agriculture projects to assist Zimbabwe with but they all crumbled.
He also said his country is committed to investing in Zimbabwe in a way that is beneficial to local indigenous people, adding that business people from his country will continue seeking areas of investment in Zimbabwe.
He congratulated Zimbabwe for making economic progress after the signing of the Global Political Agreement saying he has seen a lot of improvement since he came in 2008.
