Children of Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (CZNLWVA) have slammed War Veterans minister Chris Mutsvangwa for allowing a man masquerading as a member of CZNLWVA to hold a press conference at the minister's offices, slamming Zanu-PF factionalism.
Innocent Mhlanga, purporting to be the chairman of CZNLWVA, addressed a news conference last week railing against factionalism being allegedly spearheaded by the G40 in the ruling party.
CZNLWVA threatened to sue Mhlanga.
"We would like to warn anyone who behaves likewise that the organisation will not hesitate to sue or take legal action to such immoral, unbecoming behaviour," Munyaradzi Shoko, the president of the CZNLWVA said in a statement.
"We therefore demand answers from Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa and his ministry for giving Innocent Mhlanga the platform to hold a press conference at their offices. Our main thrust of the organisation is maintaining and improving the life of ex-combatants' children whilst promoting patriotism and protecting our sovereignty."
Shoko apologised to Zanu-PF national political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere, minister of Youth Patrick Zhuwao and Higher Education minister Jonathan Moyo for the "bogus public press conference" held by Mhlanga.
"We wish to advise the general public that Innocent Mhlanga is not our member," Shoko said.
"And we do not have the post of chairmanship in our structures, also only the public relations officer is entitled to hold a press conference if need arises. CZNLWVA is not apolitical but support the people-chosen government of the day which is currently led by Cde R. G Mugabe and we do not interfere with the anything to do with administration of a political party therefore, we respect Cde R. G Mugabe and the party. We are not aware of any factionalism in Zanu-PF as said by ignorant Innocent Mhlanga."
