President Robert Mugabe has accused former Zanu PF Spokesperson Rugare Gumbo who was kicked out of the party together with former Vice President Joice Mujuru, Didymas Mutasa and Jabulani Sibanda of being a traitor.
He said Zanu-PF should remain united to shame elements like Joice Mujuru who are bent on propagating divisions and betrayal.
"It was unfortunate that individuals like sacked Vice-President Mujuru and her sidekick, Rugare Gumbo, had turned out to be traitors after the liberation struggle," he said. He made the remarks when receiving a house in Woodlands Park, Gweru constructed by Real Valley Properties in honour of his illustrious leadership. "I am told you won the elections in this area that means you are united and being led by our party. You must remain united here in Midlands. We do not want to lose elections in Gweru. We should be united and not be fooled by those who want to divide you and destroy the party. The Zanu-PF aim is to build the nation and we are not like those who do not have a clear past and those who were in our midst who came out (in the) open like Mai Mujuru who wanted to take over power," he said.
"I did not think that after fighting the colonialists and overpowering them, Mai Mujuru would betray us with Madyira (Mr Gumbo), saying she wants to lead ahead of people like Cde Mnangagwa. But we said, 'No, you are traitors and pasi nemhanduuuuu'."
