A Harare man who drove a commuter omnibus without a licence and knocking to death a child in Kuwadzana has pleaded guilty to the culpable homicide charge and driving without a licence.

The 35-year-old man, Tafadzwa Mazorodze, appeared in court before Mbare magistrate Stanford Mambanje on Friday.

His case was postponed to Saturday for sentencing.

It was heard that on September 27, Mazorodze was driving a Toyota Hiace in Kuwadzana 7 when he failed to negotiate his way past the child who was playing with others by the roadside.

The State alleges that the minor sustained head injuries and multiple fractures as a result of the accident. The minor was taken to Harare Central Hospital where she died the following day.

A post-mortem was conducted by medical practitioners and the report was produced in court as evidence. Persy Mugauri appeared for the State.
