Telecel Zimbabwe has grown the subscriber base for its mobile money platform, TeleCash to one million almost two years after its launch.

Telecel Zimbabwe said it was targeting to increase its subscriber base through a new system, dubbed TeleCash bundles, that allows subscribers to pay a once off monthly access fee to send and receive money as well as to pay bills.

Currently all the mobile money operators charge subscribers per transaction depending on the value of the bills paid as well as money sent or received.

Meanwhile, Telecel Zimbabwe which was recently acquired by the State has taken another government owned company TelOne to the High Court seeking to recover over $4.7 million owed to it in interconnection fees.

Telecel Zimbabwe filed the summons last Thursday under case number HC11289/15 after efforts to recover the money without the involvement of the courts failed.

TelOne has since entered an appearance to defend and is geared to take Telecel Zimbabwe to task over its claim.
