Chitungwiza South MP Christopher Chigumba has been taken to the High Court by Chitungwiza Municipality for allegedly failing to pay $13 000 in rates and levies arrears.
Chitungwiza Municipality filed summons against the Zanu-PF legislator sometime in June this year, seeking to compel him to pay rates for his businesses in the domitory town.
According to the court papers, Chigumba is the owner of a property known as stand number 3051 St Mary's Huruyadzo shops in Chitungwiza, which the local authority claims is subject to rates being levied by the council in terms of the Urban Councils Act.
