A social commentator Makheli Ndiweni has revealed that no one born before 1980 was a Zimbabwean including President Robert Mugabe and Mzilikazi Khumalo indicating that there must be no one claiming to own the country.
"It is a fact that Mzilikazi was not Zimbabwean so is Mugabe and everyone born before 1980.We all became Zimbabweans in 1980," he said.
"Boundaries are a product of colonial powers, Africans migrated from one region to another due to different reasons. The Shona came in different distinct groups to the present day Zimbabwe and Botswana finding the Sarwa already settled here."
He said later on there came the mighty Ndebele and settled here.
"The Ndebeles were not as aggressive as Zanu apologists would like us to believe and the Shona were not as cowards like what some phony historians want us to believe," he said.
"The Shona were caught unaware by the Ndebele army and it took them some time to re-organise and defend themselves for they were coming from a civil war of some sought and assault from other Nguni groups especially that was led by Queen Nyamazana."
Ndiweni said the Ndebele made so many pacts with the Shona chiefs.
"The Ndebele respected the Shona gods including the Kalanga gods (Mwali) who approved the leadership of Mzilikazi. I can go on and on the truth of the matter is no one can claim to be owners of Zimbabwe. Again Gukurahundi is a modern day crime that must be condemned by all if we are to avoid another Dzamara stories again. If Gukurahundi is not dealt with accordingly then we are far from national healing. Food for thought," he said.
