The Zanu-PF Youth League has called for the re-naming of the Harare International Airport after President Robert Mugabe in recognition of the illustrious work by the Zimbabwean leader in liberating the country and spearheading development.
Presenting the wing's resolutions at the 15th Zanu-PF annual people's conference in Victoria Falls today, the Zanu-PF Secretary for Youth Affairs, Pupurai Togarepi, said Mugabe deserves more recognition by renaming the airport after him, while Mugabe's date of birth, 21 February, be declared the Robert Mugabe Day.
Other resolutions by the Youth League include a call for an Act of Parliament for the national youth service, the call for an urgent operationalisation of the Herbert Chitepo Ideological Centre and the condemnation of imposition of candidates during elections.
Meanwhile, the Women's League has called for the women quota system to be implemented at all levels of party and government leadership in the country.
Presenting the wing's resolutions, the Deputy Secretary for Women Affairs, Eunice Sandi Moyo, demanded the return of a woman to the vice presidency, adding that the Women's League wants at least one representation at all levels with three people.
She called for the alignment of the party's constitution to the national constitution regarding the quota system.
