Harare council issues statement on the quality of water

Harare water Harare water is safe for human consumption. The water meets the World Health Organisation standards.
A recent press report seemed to cast doubts or the quality of the water purportedly quoting the Director Water Eng Chnstopher Zvobgo of context.
Addressing a full council meeting on Friday. Erg Zvobgo said the city had reduced the amount of water it is treating because of the poor quality of raw water in Lake Chivero. The quality of the raw water has deteriorated because of the hot weather and the receding levels of water in the Lake.
To ensure that the city treats water to acceptable levels, the amounts abstracted from the Lake have been reduced resulting in the production of around 450 million litres of water daily as compared to the usual 550 million litres.
The Cty would therefore want co advise all customers that its water is safe for human consumption. Harare is geared to always provide safe drinking water to its residents.
Harare to achieve a WORLD CLASS CITY STATUS by 2025 .
