Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday said efforts were underway to find the six artisanal miners allegedly trapped in a shaft at Peakstone Mine in Chegutu.

He was responding to a motion introduced by Mabvuku-Tafara MP James Maridadi (MDC-T) calling on the Executive to make efforts to rescue the trapped miners.

MPs across the political divide castigated alleged police brutality on artisanal miners. They said what happened at Peakstone Mine on Monday when the miners were alleged buried alive was brutal.

Maridadi said he was in solidarity with Chegutu West MP Dexter Nduna (Zanu-PF), who was fighting for the rights of the victims and other artisanal miners who were being treated inhumanely.
