Harare Residents Trust to initiate class action against council over contaminated water Harare Residents Trust has threatened to initiate class action against council over contaminated water.

This follows the council's admission that its water was contaminated hence fears of possible disease out break.

"Following the admission by Town Engineer that Harare Municipality is supplying contaminated water to residents, the Harare Residents Trust should now initiate a class action law suit against the local authority for dereliction of duty," said the trust official.

"I am sure many of us are prepared to stand as witnesses. The council has reportedly sued 60 000 residents for allegedly defaulting on their dues, well its time we gave them a taste of their own medicine."

The official said all those suffering stomach ailments because of contaminated water should keep their medical records.-

"We must also appeal to doctors attending to cases of sickness resulting from contaminated food and water to indicate on their reports possible causes - we need to put together a full dossier on the transgressions of this council to be produced in court," said the official. The time to act is now."
