MDC MP Jasmine Toffa has accused president Robert Mugabe for scuttling economic revival by remaining in power for the past 35 years without any visible progress being observed from his government.

Taffa said the minister of finance Patrick Chinamasa always praise Mugabe each and every time he announces budget .

"The minister spends a huge chunk of his time praising  Mugabe for the so called ‘leadership that he provides'. The truth of the matter  is that is that president Mugabe is the single greatest impediment to economic growth in the country," he said.

"This country cannot move ahead with a 92 year old president who has been in office for more than 35 years at the helm."

Taffa said there is no innovation, there is no urgency, and there is no desire to put the aspirations of majority of Zimbabweans first.

"The minister says that 2016 budget strives for 'building a conducive environment that attracts foreign direct investment'. That in my view is just a slogan and I can assure you that there is no way that this budget can attract foreign direct investment when Mr. Mugabe is president of this country presiding over a government with a history of failure."
