A heartless Epworth grandmother assisted her juvenile granddaughter's suspected rapist flee arrest, after the victim had threatened to spill the beans.
The granny gave the suspect a verbal warning and gave him $10 to flee to Mt Darwin.
On Friday, the 18-year-old suspected rapist, Andrew Kahungwa, appeared before Harare magistrate Elijah Makomo, who remanded him to January 13 on $50 bail.
According to State papers, on an unknown date in September this year, Kahungwa allegedly sneaked into the juvenile's bedroom and sexually abused her.
The girl allegedly remained quiet, as she had been warned by her grandmother not to reveal anything when Kahungwa entered her bedroom.
After the act, the suspect left the room.
At the end of October, the complainant then alerted her great grandmother, who in turn informed the girl's mother and the matter was reported to the police.
