President Mugabe faces police, army revolt

A commentator has claimed that the move by government to fail to pay civil servants their salaries including the members of the armed forces is dangerous to President Robert Mugabe and his government as the possibility of them revolting against the system becomes high.
Simbarashe Manhanga said the biggest threat to any autocrat or dictators hold on power are the security forces.
"Most countries with autocracy or dictatorship have one thing in common, an ultra rich security sector. The reason is very simple, symbiosis. You take care of us, and we protect you. Once this mutual respect goes, the dictator is normally exposed and then deposed in a coup or popular uprising etc," he said.
"Recently, the civil service have had their salaries shifted to after Christmas and some, including the military into the New year. As pointed out above, this should obviously cause a strain in the relationship between the President and the security forces."
He said what he find intriguing presently, given the obtaining late-payments, is the silence from the security sector.
"Doctors and nurses have threatened to go on strike if what l have read is to be believed. teachers too have indicated the same. not a whiff from the security sector," he said.
"This is very weird is it not? Of course they cannot strike but their cries are normally loud. This led me to think why. Why this silence? Several options comes to mind immediately and the most likely one might be that the top guys have already been paid. They might even have already received their bonuses too to ensure they keep quite as well as keep their juniors quite. This is not too far-fetched or is it? You can never tell can you?" Manhanga said "Mugabe aged 91, will not retire, adding the veteran leader will be taken to work in a wheelbarrow if necessary."
He said this was said by president's wife Grace while addressing supporters at a rally in Masvingo.
