The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched the district service charter in Victoria Falls with the objective of enhancing the understanding of their role in serving the community.
Stakeholders have been urged to work together with the police to improve their effectiveness in maintaining peace and security for town residents and the country at large.
Officer commanding ZRP Victoria Falls Chief Superintendent Jairos Chiona says the ZRP service charter requires the cooperation and support of stakeholders to allow them to fulfill their mandate in the community.
Stakeholders felt that the adoption of the new people driven constitution has contributed positively to the transformation of the police force to that of a police service.
Organisations comprising the business community and other stakeholders have been created to support the police in the fight against crime.
The client service charter is a social contract between the police and the community and gives power to its clients by giving them a channel for feed back when the police force fail to meet the standards expected.
The client service charter is conducted twice a year and reviews are aided by feedback obtained through public opinion surveys and remarketing of the charter at national, provincial, district and station levels.
