Sungura musician Alick Macheso seems to be striking the right chords if the response to his new songs at live shows is anything to go by.

Macheso, who has been under pressure from critics to release an album, sampled only three songs in full at Ice and Fire Pamuzinda and attracted wild cheers from hundreds of fans that came for the show.

The three songs that can be roughly called "Wandirangaridza", "Nhai Baba" and "Munyaradzi" were enough to send the crowd into frenzy.

"Nhai Baba" is a song in which a child asks his father why he abandoned the family leaving it in poverty. The musician said his message was real and he was simply playing his role as a humanitarian ambassador.

"Idzi hadzisi ngano ba, kasi zvinhu zviri kuitika (These are not folk-tales but its reality)," he said to a thunderous applause. As if that was not enough he gave guitarists chances to display their skills on the same song, leaving fans convinced that his album was the next big thing in the musician's career.

Another song, "Wandirangaridza", became the darling of many music lovers as they sang along prompting him to repeat it several times. "Munyaradzi" was also well received and it seems the musician has more in store for the upcoming release that is set to carry six tracks.

After the songs the musician pleaded with fans to be patient as he makes final touches to the album. "Let us be patient because the band is making sure that no stone is left unturned. The band is making sure that you will get the best. We have played only these three songs in demonstration but the album is complete. The producers are doing final production processes and you will have the album as soon as everything is in order," he said.

Fans who spoke to this publication said though the musician was taking long to release an album, his shows were worth attending. "There is no new album, yes but we are happy that he is giving fans real value for their money at shows. His new songs are good and show us he has something serious coming," said one Welling Nyambugo.

Some were happy that he was taking his time to release an album. "As you heard people were happy with the songs and it is a good idea that he is taking his time to do the songs," said another fan.

His manager, Lucky Macheso said everything was going according to their plans and fans will not wait longer. "He is doing his best and fans will not wait any longer. This break is meant polish the album before its release," he said.
