Zim media under siege- Welshman Ncune

The MDC leader Professor Welshman Ncube have lamented that the Zimbabwean media has again fallen under siege following the arrest of the NewsDay deputy Editor Nqaba Matshazi and the reporter Xolisani Ncube on Thursday.
The two journalists were detained and are expected to appear in court today charged with publishing falsehoods.
"Zimbabwean media is effectively under siege," tweeted Ncube. "The intimidation tactics to silence journalists are unacceptable."
Ncube tweeted after the Standard Editor Kholwani Nyathi had also tweeted that the arrest were a remainder that journalism is a risk in Zimbabwe.
"A reminder of the risk of being a journalist in Zimbabwe as NewsDay deputy Editor is charged this morning by police," tweeted Nyathi.
The NewsDay journalists' arrest come few months after the Sunday Mail Editor Mabasa Sasa and Investigative Editor Brain Chitemba were arrested for also publishing falsehoods.
NewsDay journalists were arrested following the publication of a story that the CIOs have since been paid their bonuses ahead of other civil servants.
