The MDC-T senior member Job Sikhala has lashed out at the one line publication for reporting malicious news about the abducted Itai Dzamara claiming that his brother Patson had said he has died.
He said the ZimEye news network pronounced sad news that Itai has been pronounced dead.
"This news surprised me after I noticed that it based its story from the Facebook post of Itai's sibling Dr Patson Dzamara. In Patson's story I failed to discover the pronouncement of Itai's death. It was a lamentation narrative," said Sikhala. "The young boy was crying about his brother's whereabouts. He hoped to meet him in his lifetime. Sensational news reporting based on malicious passage of such sensitive information must not be tolerated at all."
He said here is a man whose whereabouts is unknown with his young wife and children still expecting God to protect him wherever he is being sensational pronounced dead by a website without a formidable foundation to do so.
"The news pronouncement caused anxiety among the family members and Itai's friends. This is more cruel than those who led to his disappearance," said Sikhala. "Why pronouncing such news without verification from the purported source? What's the interest in sensationalism using a Facebook posting to authenticate your story? Are those news men desperate for sensational Breaking News? Is it an attempt to drive huge traffic to the news website to lack respect for the family in pain? Why are our people lose all their moral fibre to do such a thing in the name of Breaking News? When has a Facebook posting without a hint of such sad news get twisted to suit a pronouncement from third parties?"
He asked if death of such a hero like Itai Dzamara will be pronounced through a Facebook posting or a Press Conference?
"Our society must learn to respect the pain of other people otherwise such behaviour must be viciously condemned," he said.
