President Robert Mugabe who is holidaying in the Far East with his entire family could return in the country by weekend, a cabinet minister has hinted.
Mugabe (91) left the country later December for his annual leave.
Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Prisca Mupfumira said cabinet will resume seating next week.
In the absence of Mugabe, there are no cabinet sessions as he personally chairs them.
This is despite the fact that there would be an acting president.
Mupfumira hinted on Mugabe's return when she begged civil servants to be patient on bonuses.
She Treasury was still mobilising resources and dates for the bonuses will be announced "soon".
"Bonuses are very important and what we ask for is a little patience.
"We've managed the December salaries and we'll have the January salaries and very soon we should be giving dates for payment of bonuses and we need resources for all that.
"However, we need to be realistic. It won't happen this month. Cabinet will resume sitting next week and these issues will be top of our priority. I'm also looking forward to getting a bonus but we've to be practical to say what comes first," she is quoted saying.
