Businessman and politician Phillip Chiyangwa has vowed that Zanu-PF will retain the Chinhoyi and other constituencies lost to the MDC-T in the 2008 harmonised elections.
Addressing Zanu-PF supporters during a tour of the Chengetanayi Old People's Home in Chinhoyi on Saturday, Chiyangwa said he was committed to work tirelessly to ensure an outright victory in Chinhoyi.
Chiyangwa said the MDC-T had lost the favour of the people in Chinhoyi after its councillors failed to deliver services.
Chinhoyi residents invited Chiyangwa to get first hand information on the challenges they were facing.
"This time nobody is going to stop our victory. We want to rebuild the party in this area and reclaim the capital city of Mashonaland West province, and all other constituencies in the province.
"The MDC-T has failed to deliver services in this area. Sewage is flowing everywhere and the councillors are giving themselves hefty allowances at the expense of workers, who are languishing in abject poverty.
"People have now realised that these MDC-T people have no vision for development except regime change."
Chiyangwa said Zanu-PF had a legacy in Chinhoyi that was left by veteran politicians like Nathan Shamuyarira who never lost the constituency to any other party or candidate.
He said he would work with the people in Mashonaland West until elections were held.
Chiyangwa urged Zanu-PF supporters especially the youths to unite as general elections draw closer.
"We have to target the youths especially those who are between 18 and 25 years. They need to be taught the importance of safeguarding the country's independence.
"We should come up with income generating projects for these young people who are just coming from school," he said.
At the meeting, Chiyangwa was appointed provincial patron of a youth pressure group called Youths in Defence of Zimbabwe's Sovereignty.
The group's spokesperson Tapiwa Chitate said the organisation aimed at defending Zimbabwe's independence and sovereignty from any form of external aggression.
"Our organisation is an independent group for youths who are committed to protect our motherland from machinations of Western neo-colonialism," said Chitate.
