The event which is an initiative by the Book of African Records to encourage Zimbabweans to "Break a record" that will be published in the upcoming Book of African Records Zimbabwe Edition next year.
The MP's mobile phone was not reachable yesterday but Gwen Myers, the publicist of Book of African Records, confirmed that Chinos, as he is popularly known, and wife would participate.
"We are excited that among the contestants is our very own Chinos and his wife. The couple will be running for the big prize among other celebrity couples," she said.
For those who want to be in the run for the contest, the rules are quite simple and interesting. Firstly, the couple has to be married.
The kiss must be continuous and the lips must be touching at all times.
If the lips are unlocked then the couple is immediately disqualified.
Contestants must be over the age of 18.
Only married couples can participate.
Proof of marriage may be required.
Couples married according to Customary Law are eligible to participate.
The contestants must stand during the attempt and cannot be propped together by any aids, such as pillows, cushions or people.
No rest breaks are allowed and couples must not leave the venue during their attempt.
In other words, small houses, concubines or girlfriends or those who are engaged will not be allowed to take part.
"For the record to be valid and documented the couples should be married.
"We do not want a situation where some partners will lodge complaints with the Book of African Records that so and so kissed somebody else's wife," Myers said.
According to Myers the event starts with the red carpet being rolled out to guests followed by lunch and the mass kissing.
"There will be many judges on the panel to ensure that rules are not flouted. Whoever wins will get fabulous cash prizes plus a holiday courtesy of sponsors RTG," she said.
The current world record for the longest kiss stands at 58 hours and is held by a Thai couple.
