Suspended school head over leaking exams gets court reprieve

The case against Mhari High School head, Goodwell Manyame who is alleged to have shown exam questions to candidates during last year's November exams has been withdrawn from Chivhu Magistrates' Courts.

However, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Schools has gone ahead and suspended him.

Masvingo Mirror reported that the case was withdrawn after State witnesses, Prosper and Prince Zisadza who were shown the exam questions refused to adhere to their initial accounts that indeed exam papers were shown to them.

Manyame was suspended together with Mwarianesu Manzwimbo, his deputy, who was the chief exam invigilator.
Chikomba District Education Officer Ngoni Mujuru confirmed the suspension.

It is alleged that when Prosper was found in possession of pre-written scripts in the exam room by the invigilators Mawire Nhamo and Masamha Nharo, they reported the matter to Manzwimbo.

Manzwimbo then notified Manyame who ordered him to return the answer script to the students and let them continue with their exam.
Manyame appeared in court late in December 2015 facing two counts of unlawfully opening the Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZIMSEC) examination papers that were yet to be written.

It was the state case that Manyame opened ZIMSEC examination papers on two different occasions and revealed the contents to his nephew who was to sit for the Advanced Level examinations.

 ZIMSEC reportedly nullified the results of the two A Level candidates, Prosper and Prince, and those of a Hande High School female student whom Prosper allegedly showed the exam questions prior to the date on which the paper was to be written. news
