The Generation 40 (G40) Zanu-PF party faction is allegedly pushing for the ouster of Higher Education minister Jonathan Moyo from the party.
Sources close to the Mnangagwa camp say the Vice President's allies were angry with Moyo, whom they see as the mastermind of the G40, and they were actively pushing for the dismissal or suspension for at least five years from the party at Wednesday's politburo meeting.
Jonathan Moyo is said to have crossed the line through his attacks on Mnangagwa and Team Lacoste is also planning on isolating Moyo at the upcoming politburo meeting.
Meanwhile, war veterans want Saviour Kasukuwere and Professor Jonathan Moyo expelled from Zanu-PF for causing serious divisions after the national commissar allegedly vowed to unleash violence on war veterans planning to bar Prof Moyo from attending this Wednesday's crunch Politburo meeting.
Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association secretary-general Victor Matemadanda told war veterans gathered in Gweru yesterday that Zanu-PF national commissar Kasukuwere told provincial chairpersons at a meeting last Friday that he had organized supporters to thwart a plan by war veterans to bar Prof Moyo from attending the Politburo meeting on Wednesday.
