No thieves for Zim land audit please - Senator

SENATOR Chief Chitika of Masvingo told the Senate on 20 September 2011 that Government must not assign thieves to do the land audit.
The outspoken Senator was making a presentation o the Response to the President Robert Mugabe's speech.
He said: "I will end by taking g one or two issues from the President's Speech that confirms that at least the inclusive Government has been helpful. The ideas are starting to filter to the other half (Zanu-PF) that had not cotton buds, but stones in their ears.
"….The second issue is of land, apart from commending Senator Hungwe for a very well done report on land and agriculture; I will not spoil what he said. We have been talking about the national land audit, but we do not want a land audit by thieves auditing themselves.
"We have got three or four land audits in this country, they all have been pushed under the carpet, thrown out or never published because we have been sending the same thieves to audit themselves.
"Right now we demand that on this land audit there be proper people who are independent and not the same thieves that have been stealing things all the time," he said.
Zimbabwe did a chaotic land re-distribution exercise that has left a few Zanu-PF chefs and rogue former freedom fighter clinging to vast tracks of unutilized land.
