ZIMBABWEAN legislators are dull rogues who do not understand what corruption is and what it does to a country, one of them has said.

Addressing the House of Assembly on 22 September 2011, Kambuzuma legislators – Willias Madzimure said some lawmakers think "lawlessness is the order of day" and understand nothing at all.

According to Volume 38, Number 4 of the Hansard, Honorable Madzimure said:

"Madam Speaker, it is also very disturbing when you deal with Members of parliament who purport to be legislators or leaders of this country that do not understand the damage some these things to do the country (sic).

"People think that lawlessness is the order of the day and cannot understand the gravity of some these things," he said.

The MP, who belongs to the Movement for Democratic Change formation led by Prime Minster Mr Morgan Tsvangirai, added:

"For a Member of parliament who does not know what corruption is, what it does to a country – is so disturbing. You become just a rogue person who has no appreciation of all values – it is quite disturbing because it is precisely why our young people were used to that extent,' he said.

Madzimure was speaking about the Asiagate scandal in which bogus national soccer teams were assembled to and play fixed matches.
