A CHIKANGA man who shocked residents and police officers after he was found in possession of a snake head in his wallet was last week fined fined $100.
Manica Post reported that Spencer Kahodo pleaded guilty of contravening Section 59 (2)(b)of the Parks and Wildlife Act, Chapter 20:14.
Public prosecutor, Mr Fletcher Karombe, said Kahodo killed a snake and removed the head which he went on to dry and placed it in his wallet.
Police detectives, however, received a tip-off that the accused was in possession of a fire-arm.
They rushed to his homestead at House Number 1478, Chikanga 1 and searched the house. They discovered that the alleged firearm was an air gun.
Upon conducting further searches, they discovered a snake's head in the accused's wallet. He was arrested in connection with the offence.
Asked why he was in possession of the snake head, Kahode said it protected his property and money.
"I erred Your Worship and I pray for leniency. I was not aware that I was committing an offence by keeping the snake's head. I wanted to instill fear in my friends and family so that they could not touch my property or money," he said.
Senior Mutare magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura, ordered him to pay $100 fine or to spend three months behind bars.
