The Zanu-PF Harare Central District leadership has vowed to rally behind the first family, saying they will stand guided by the resolutions passed at the 2015 party conference where it was clearly pronounced that there is only one centre of power in Zanu-PF and President Robert Mugabe is the party's presidential candidate for 2018.
The Zanu-PF Harare Central District leadership that was elected in November last year attended an induction workshop that was held over the weekend.
The leadership was reminded on the importance of knowing their rank in the party for them to be effective, and to always stand guided by the Zanu-PF constitution which is the cornerstone of the party.
Harare Central District Chairman Casper Mupomhore, Provincial Deputy Secretary for Administration Prosper Mushonga and the Youth Chairperson Jason Swanepoel, said recent pronouncements by the First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe that they are some people who are bent on causing disharmony within the party are regrettable.
They said it shows that there are some people in the party who are ignoring the party's constitution which sets out the parameters of different structures and positions within the party.
Provincial Commissar for Harare Central District, Felix Mpofu and Provincial Youth Chairman, Edson Takataka urged youths to stand by the president and the first family and to continue maintaining unity of purpose in order to steer development in the country as espoused under Vision 2020 of the party's manifesto.
The induction workshop was meant to equip the district leadership with an understanding of the party and to underscore that every decision should be guided by the party's constitution.
